This is my first time using a flash, the Nikon SB-600 with Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce. It's pretty good--but the range is a little limited. I was hesitant about using a flash for a long time, as I had these fears about overly-harsh lighting--but it's really not that bad. Embrace the flash.
