Downtown Crossing

Location: Downtown Crossing, Boston
Distance: 3.5 miles, 5.5 km
Transportation: Subway

A quiet moment in Downtown Crossing on a late afternoon. Downtown Crossing is a combination of department stores, retail chains, doomsday prophets and touristy kiosks. The best part is that they close the street to cars during the afternoon--so you can wander with reduced fear.

This picture is from Washington St, which is a narrow road between very tall buildings. The buildings cast some pretty large shadows, which were enhanced by the setting sun.
