cabin in the woods

cabin in the woods

Nikon D70 18-70 mm at 1/30s, f4/5

Location: Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1), BC, Canada

I'm not sure I really like this image, it's a little too busy without a strong point of focus, but I thought I'd put it up and see how others feel about it. I added some diffuse glow through Photoshop to give it a bit more contrast and a snowy feel.

I think you got it half right here. The look and feel of the image, thanks to your work on the contrast and saturation, is nice, giving it a mysterious, "voyeur" feel. However, what bothers me here is the perspective and the framing. To me this could be a very personal image with deep tension and trepidation, but taking the picture from an elevated vantage point negates that completely. It should be framed from a perspective low to the ground, in my opinion. Also, the brightness of the trees distracts from the focus of the image, which is the cabin.

Yes, I think you're right. The perspective is terrible.

I was pulled over on the side of the TransCanada, and this was taken from the car, looking down a slope at the cabin.
