steam and clouds above the Poás Volcano crater. Costa Rica

Laguna Caliente, inside the crater, is one of the most aciding lakes in the world (pH~0!!!!), and its waters are constantly seeping into the volcano to generate smoke and steam. Because of this acidity, the crater and the land surrounding it are almost devoid of life, and downwind, the vegetation is stunted. However, other regions around the crater are known for their lush cloud forests and fertile coffee soil
